About
Steven Denney is a licensed home builder who builds and remodels homes in and around the Birmingham area. Steven started his construction career in 1997 and achieved success with well-known commercial general contracting companies such as Brice Building Company and Golden Construction (now known as Creature).
After spending 20 years in the commercial construction industry, Steven became a certified NCCER building construction instructor with a local trade school called the Academy of Craft Training (ACT). He teaches residential and commercial carpentry, blueprint reading, estimating, and construction layout/surveying. Getting to see his students receive job offers in the construction industry after finishing the ACT program is the most rewarding part for Steven.
Along with being a certified NCCER instructor, Steven holds a certification in a four-year carpenter apprenticeship program from Brice Building Company, a certification in the AGC supervisor training program, 30hr OSHA training certification, as well as a B.A. in Philosophy and Biblical Studies from Southeastern Bible College. He has given presentations on the topic of using 2D and 3D building models for construction layout at the Auburn University School of Building Science, the University of Alabama School of Engineering, and the Lawson State Building Construction Program.
Having a career path that started with being formally trained as a carpenter helps Steven understand what it takes to create a well-built home. His love for working with his hands as a craftsman shows in the detail of the finished product. Furthermore, Steven’s instincts as a teacher are displayed in how he educates his customers throughout the construction process. That way they have a better understanding of how to make decisions which will not affect quality for the sake of economy. No matter what building project Steven is working on, his training, experiences, and passion for building come together to create quality results.
